Ski Safari - Not only can you ski the Chamonix valley but you will also be taken to a selection of the 20 or so nearby ski areas in 3 countries. The areas will chosen on a day to day basis according the snow and weather conditions and needs of the group. From your comfortable chalet base, short drives of maximum one hour from Les Houches will bring you to a pick of some of the 20 major ski areas in the Mont Blanc region. Travel in style in a Volkswagon, air conditioned four wheel drive minibus. Lift tickets aren’t included. You can purchase these daily and the total week shouldn’t cost more than the normal one week Chamonix area lift passes. Any day you don’t want to ski, you don’t have to pay for a ticket. Normally the chalet owner will ski with you four days in the week. While this is an included item whenever you are in Switzerland or in Italy it is not an included part of the holiday and no payment is made for this while in France. In France when he skis with you it is because he wants to. Boarders welcome. The chalet owner holds the top US ski instructor qualification and passed the top Austrian ski instructor qualification available to foreigners while he was living in Austria. He is also British qualified. By visiting an Austrian Instructor’s refresher course every year he is able to keep up with current ski trends. There is an option to learn classic and try skate on our Winter Activity week programme. Winter Activities - The Mont Blanc region justifiably lays claim to some of the most spectacular mountain scenery anywhere in the world, and is a stunning setting for our week of activities. Both Italy and Switzerland border the Chamonix valley, making this a truly international trip. Our base for the week is the above Chalet, just a few minutes walk from the Les Houches world cup downhill ski fields and cross-country ski trails. From the chalet enjoy a range of organised fun activities including snowshoe walking, cross-country skiing in both classic and skating style, dog sledding, ice skating, snowmobiling, and riding the Mont Blanc express train. There will be time to explore the town of Chamonix and a wide range of optional activities on your free day.
