The village of Martham
sits close to the Norfolk coast and the coastal villages of Winterton-on-Sea,
Scratby and California, and is only 9 miles from the town of Great
Yarmouth. Martham Broad is a tranquil place where the rare swallowtail
butterfly can sometimes be spotted as well as many different species
of dragonflies and damselflies. The river Thurne is about a mile away
and there are plenty of footpaths to explore in and around the
village. Martham church, St Mary, dates from the 14th century and the
church tower is occasionally open for those that are fit enough to
climb it!
