Just a short walk from the town centre is Wymondham Abbey and its impressive towers dominate the lush meadows. Founded in 1107 the Abbey is simply stunning with its hammer-beam roof carved with 200 angels and the 18th Century organ with Chippendale case. For a taste of Wymondham’s history visit the Wymondham Heritage Museum. Housed in the former Bridewell, the building itself has had an interesting past – from being a prison, women’s house of correction, a police station and finally a Magistrates Court! For some family fun, Wymondham has some great things to do. Ride the Mid-Norfolk Railway to Dereham, another delightful market town or get up some speed go-karting.
